Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Corporate Law to lead and develop our Corporate Law Department.
The Role
As Head of the Corporate Law Department, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and continued development of the department. You will advise on a wide range of corporate transactions while driving business growth, mentoring the team, and enhancing the firm’s corporate offering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of corporate solicitors and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing department.
- Client Advisory Work: Advise clients on corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, share and asset sales and purchases, corporate restructurings, shareholder agreements, joint ventures, and corporate governance.
- Department Strategy: Develop and implement the strategic direction of the Corporate Law Department in line with the firm’s overall objectives.
- Transaction Oversight: Oversee complex and high-value transactions, ensuring quality, efficiency, and risk management throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Business Development: Drive growth through client relationship management, networking, cross-selling opportunities, and identifying new corporate work.
- Training and Development: Support the professional development of team members, ensuring technical excellence and knowledge-sharing across the department.
- Profile and Market Presence: Raise the profile of the firm’s corporate offering through marketing initiatives, thought leadership, and participation in external events.
Key Requirements
- Experience: A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years’ (PQE) in Corporate Law, with strong experience in transactional work.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Corporate Law, including M&A, Corporate Finance, and Company Law.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading and developing legal teams.
- Commercial Mindset: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to provide clear, practical advice aligned with clients’ business objectives.
- Business Development: Demonstrable experience in building client relationships and contributing to departmental and firm-wide growth.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trust with clients and colleagues.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
