It is about this time each year that I set out the changes to the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage and this year is no different (well, not in relation to this anyway!).
Another important point to note is that the lower age threshold for entitlement to the National Living Wage is to be lowered from 25 to 23 years of age.
The increases from April 2021 will be as follows:
Apprentice under the age of 19 (or first year Apprentice) – Increased from £4.15 to £4.30 per hour
Aged 16-17 – Increased from £4.55 to £4.62 per hour
Aged 18-20 – Increased from £6.45 to £6.56 per hour
Aged 21-22 – Increased from £8.20 to £8.36 per hour
Aged 23 and over – Increased from £8.72 to £8.91 per hour
In relation to Statutory Leave Payments, these will again increase from April 2021 as follows:
Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Adoption Pay – Increased from £151.20 to £151.97 per week
Statutory Paternity Pay, Shared Parental Pay and Parental Bereavement Pay – Increased from £151.20 to £151.96 per week
Statutory Sick Pay – Increase from £95.85 to £96.35 per week
The lower earnings limit for the calculation of Statutory Sick Pay and the other Statutory Leave Payments will remain at £120 per week.
