Annual increases to National Minimum Wage & Statutory Payments for 2023

It is about this time each year that I set out the changes to the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage, so here we have it…

The increases from 1 April 2023 will be as follows:

  • Apprentice under the age of 19 (or first year Apprentice)

Increased from £4.81 to £5.28 per hour

  • Aged 16-17       

Increased from £4.81 to £5.28 per hour

  • Aged 18-20

Increased from £6.83 to £7.49 per hour

  • Aged 21-22

Increased from £9.18 to £10.18 per hour

  • Aged 23 and over (national Living Wage)

Increased from £9.50 to £10.42 per hour

In relation to Statutory Leave Payments, these will again increase from 1 April 2023 as follows:

  • Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Adoption Pay

Increased from £156.66 to £172.48 per week (or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower)

  • Statutory Paternity Pay, Shared Parental Pay and Parental Bereavement Pay
